Pianocorder Music Library - Incomplete Song Listings

Thanks for taking the time to check out this page! Below, you'll find a handful of selections from the Pianocorder Music Library which were not fully documented in the Pianocorder catalog listings.

If you can provide accurate title/composer/lyricist information for any of these, please email your corrections to Mark Fontana <mfontana@frontiernet.net>. I will update the page as information is received and include a note indicating who supplied the updated text. Be sure to let me know if you do NOT want credit for your submission(s).

All files are in MIDI format (converted from the original proprietary Pianocorder format) and should be playable on any computer, solenoid-based player system, or pneumatic player piano equipped with the Chase-Gerety system and appropriate software.

Songs showing Nickelodeon in the source column were transferred from special tapes designed for the Rod Rice Nickelodeon, a modified Pianocorder system equipped with eight percussion instruments and a rank of pipes. The MIDI files include General MIDI emulations of the nickelodeon instruments, so be sure to play these on a GM/GS-capable MIDI player such as Microsoft Media Player. WARNING: These are very cheesy and rather sloppily done...

Songs showing MERP in the source column were originally recorded on Superscope/Marantz' Musically Expressive Recording Piano in their studios.

The Pianocorder system had the ability to adjust the treble/bass expression split point of its solenoid stack for accurate reproduction of Ampico, Duo-Art and Welte roll conversions. If you hover the cursor over an entry in the Source column, popup text will appear showing which split point was used for that song. This sometimes provides a useful clue when trying to determine the source roll, assuming the Marantz engineers who transferred the rolls set this parameter accurately.

Enjoy...
